About Us

The Russell Players were founded in November 1977 by a group of Swallowfield Parishioners and has been going strong ever since. Our membership covers the entire spectrum from 10 to 70+ years old and some of our founder members are still very active within the group.

As a group we are based in Swallowfield Parish Hall and can be found in the Hall on most Wednesday and Sunday evenings. If we are not rehearsing for our next production then we could be play reading or even holding auditions for a  future production.

We aim to stage three productions a year, a pantomime in late January or early February, a play in late spring (May) and a play in early autumn (September / October).

We have an active social calendar with an annual Summer Barbecue, trips to local amateur and professional theatres and other ad-hoc events.

Our Committee members are:

Tessa Costin (Chair), Nigel Adams (Treasurer), Maggie Uttley (Secretary), Chris Partridge, Hazel Gillingwater, Juliet Devon, Margaret Stead, Mitch Mitchell, Sarah Mapleston.

We would welcome any new members who wish to be involved in some or all of the various aspects of amateur dramatics. i.e. acting, directing, producing, stage management, costumes, lighting, props, prompt and front of house.

Membership is currently £10 a year for adults and £5 a year for children under 18 years old.

If you would like to join our group or would like more details please contact our Secretary - Maggie Uttley kcuttley@aol.com or our Membership Secretary - Juliet Devon juliet26@talktalk.net
